How to Accept Delegated Access

Delegated Access is a student-initiated process. After your student grants you access, you will receive an email notification providing instructions on the steps you should take to accept delegate access.

IMPORTANT! Save or print the email (an example of which is pictured immediately below in Fig. 1) when you receive it. You must return to these instructions to obtain the Security Key and Email Address after you complete the steps below.

  • OPTION 1: If you do not yet have an FSUID username, or if your current username is an email address, you will need to create a new account to access your student's records by clicking the link within Step #1 of your Delegated Access registration email message.
    BUT
  • OPTION 2: If you already have an official FSUID, and that ID is not an email address, please begin at Step #4 of your Delegated Access registration email message. Go directly to the instructions below under OPTION 2.

 

OPTION 1

  1. After clicking the link within Step #1 an FSUID Registration page appears.
  2. Complete the FSUID Registration form.
    NOTE - The email address you enter on the FSUID Registration form must be 30 characters or less!
  3. Click Continue.
    • The system displays an FSUID Registration Summary page which allows you to review and edit your information
    • If your information is correct, select Yes, this is correct to continue
    • If your information is incorrect, select No, need to make an edit to return to the registration form
  4. On the following FSUID Registration Complete screen, note your EMPLID* number
    *The EMPLID is a unique, nine-digit number issued to all students, faculty, staff and guests of Florida State University. While it is not your FSUID username, it may be required to activate your FSUID account or to reset your password.
  5. An email confirming your registration and containing both your FSUID username and EMPLID number will be sent to the address you provided in the form (see example screenshot below).

    NOTES:
    • Typically, the registration confirmation is sent immediately. However, please allow an hour for receipt.

    • If you do not receive the registration confirmation email in an hour, check your spam folder.

    • If the email was flagged as spam, add the address noreply@fsu.edu to your anti-spam or contact list.

  6. To activate your FSUID account and create a password, navigate to my.fsu.edu
  7. Select Activate/Manage FSUID
  8. Under New Account, select Activate Your FSUID
  9. On the next page, select Proceed to continue the activation process
  10. Enter your EMPLID number, First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth and then select Continue
  11. On the next page, enter the email address to which the original “Register your FSUID” email was sent, and select Continue
  12. On the next screen, which displays your FSUID username, select Continue
  13. The next screen will prompt you to setup security questions to use in the future if you need to reset your FSUID password.
  14. Select three questions, enter your answers for each, and then select Continue
  15. On the next screen, enter and confirm a password for your FSUID and select Continue to complete activation of your FSUID
  16. To complete setting up your Delegate Access account, open the original email you received with the Subject containing “Register your FSUID”.
  17. Go to Step #4 within the email and click the link provided.
  18. Enter your FSUID username and password and select Sign In
  19. You will be brought to the Delegate Terms and Conditions screen
  20. Read the terms and conditions for accessing somebody else’s data
  21. Select the I accept terms and conditions check box if you agree
  22. Refer to the original email you received—with the Subject containing “Register your FSUID”—and enter the Security Key and Email Address* listed under Step 7.
    *NOTE - This email address must match the email address entered by the student during the initial setup. 
  23. Select Submit to complete the Delegated Access setup process.
  24. You now have access to your student’s delegated information.

    Furthermore, some categories are calendar-driven. A link can be live but not display information.
    For example, at some points in the calendar year, a class schedule may not yet be available.

OPTION 2

  1. From the original Delegated Access registration email message—with the Subject “Register your FSUID”—click the link within Step #4.
  2. Enter your FSUID username and password and select Sign In
  3. You will be brought to the Delegate Terms and Conditions screen
  4. Read the terms and conditions for accessing somebody else’s data
  5. Select the I accept terms and conditions check box if you agree
  6. Refer to the original email you received—with the Subject containing “Register your FSUID”—and enter the Security Key and Email Address* listed under Step 7.
    *NOTE - This email address must match the email address entered by the student during the initial setup. 
  7. Select Submit to complete the Delegated Access setup process.
  8. You now have access to your student’s delegated information.

How To Access Your Student's Records

  1. Navigate to my.fsu.edu
  2. Sign in with your FSUID username and password
  3. Select View Delegated Information on either side of your screen (see the example screenshot below). You may also select the SC icon under myFSU Links.
  4. On your FSU Delegate Access Homepage, select My Student’s Details

    NOTE - By default you will directed to the Delegated Terms and Conditions screen, but that does not mean that you need to re-accept the terms and conditions. Delegate terms and conditions only need to be accepted once per student agreement.
  5. Select Delegated Self Service to access student-granted information and functions

    NOTES - Multi-Step Verification:
    • When a delegate attempts to access a protected page or function within a student’s details, that delegate will need to verify their identity through Due Multi-Step Verification before being allowed to proceed.
    • Users are only required to verify their identity through Duo once per sign-in session. If delegates have already verified through Duo elsewhere in the system, then they will not be prompted to do so here.

How To Access Multiple Students' Records

  1. Navigate to my.fsu.edu
  2. Sign in with your FSUID username and password
  3. Select View Delegated Information on either side of your screen (see the example screenshot below). You may also select the SC icon under myFSU Links.
  4. On your FSU Delegate Access Homepage, select My Student’s Details

    NOTE - By default you will directed to the Delegated Terms and Conditions screen, but that does not mean that you need to re-accept the terms and conditions. Delegate terms and conditions only need to be accepted once per student agreement.
  5. Select Delegated Self Service, which will bring you to the Choose Student screen
  6. Select the magnifying glass icon next to the Student ID field to locate the student in question
    NOTE: If you have your student's EMPLID number, you may instead enter it into the Student ID field and click Proceed

  7. Click Proceed and on the next page you be able to access the information and functions granted to you by that student
